  • At our May 2023 meeting, the 100+ Men Who Care passed the $500,000 threshold in total donations to Dayton-area charities!  This accomplishment was recorded by the Dayton Daily News in an article published in the Life Section, page C2, in their June 8, 2023 issue.  To add "icing to the cake," long-standing member George Malacos, chairman of the board at Miami Industrial Trucks, arranged to have his organization donate a much needed forklift to The Food Bank, our Charity of the Quarter in February, 2023.

  • Beginning in February 2022, we instituted a new, entirely voluntary option for our most generous members.  We now welcome individual members to contribute $200 each quarter.  These "double dippers" effectively "add" a new member to our roster.  Double dippers, however, still only get one vote and may only nominate one charity.  Further, to participate in this option, they must agree to donate $800 on or before the first meeting date of each new calendar year (double the usual annual contribution requirement).  As this time, five members are participating, effectively raising our membership count from an actual 111 members to a "funded" 116 member count.

  • COVID caused us to temporarily suspend in-person meetings.  However, in-person meetings resumed on August 24, 2021 hosted as in the past by the fine people at McGohan Brabender.  We have been meeting in-person since that date.

  • A special "thank you" went out to Kelly Lehman for nominating the 100+ Men and the 100+ Women of Dayton jointly for the "Special Service Award" offered by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) of Greater Dayton.  Jointly, the 100+ Men and Women have raised over $1,000,000.00 for greater Dayton area charities.  That award ceremony took place on November 14, 2017 at the Ponitz Center, Sinclair Community College.  Kathy Banwart and Joe Lehman accepted the award for their respective groups.

  • The 100+ Men Who Care of Dayton hit a new milestone in February 2017. The $10,600.00 grant they issued to the Fisher Nightingale Houses, Inc. brought their total charitable donations to the greater Dayton areas (since inception) to over a quarter-million dollars!

  • December 17, 2015 - The Dayton Daily News graced our organization with much appreciated publicity.  This time, we had a nearly full page article in the LIFE section.  Thank you Beth Anspach, contributing writer, for doing a terrific job of describing who we are and what we do!  As a direct result of her article, at least two potential new members have expressed their interest in joining our group!

  • August 6, 2015 -  The Dayton Daily News published another article on 100+ giving groups featuring the 100+ Men and the 100+ Women's groups of Dayton.  Our's is the first such group for men in the nation - another Dayton first!  The Women's group may have been the first to be formed outside of the founder's home state of Michigan.

  • January 27, 2015 - We achieved our namesake!  Dwayne Adams joined as member #100.

  • October 23, 2014 - The Dayton Daily News, in concert with the Dayton Foundation, published an article about the 100+ Men Who Care group.  That article resulted in applications from approximately ten new members!

  • September 2014 - Member Dave Gasper initiated a recruiting drive that netted over eight new members!

  • January 2014 - Member Gary Hunt began a recruiting drive that has netted about twenty new members to date!  That effort, along with a number of changes he recommended in our operating procedures, initiated a growth spurt that continues today.
